Headcase

A private life archive

A lifetime is worth remembering.

A private home for what you’ve lived, the people who matter, and the memories worth keeping.

01 · Keep

Keep what matters.

Write it down, say it out loud, or film it. Photographs and recordings sit beside the words, with the dates and places they belong to.

Headcase keeps the evidence and the meaning as two different things. A photograph is what happened. What you say about it is the memory.

02 · Understand

Make sense of your story.

People, places, chapters and the years between them, drawn together so your own record is something you can walk through rather than search blindly.

Headcase will ask you a question when it has a reason to, and suggest a connection when it sees one. Nothing is filed for you, nothing is decided for you, and a correction is kept for good.

03 · Together

Stay close, across distance.

Connected Headcases lets two people ask each other the questions nobody gets around to asking, and keep the answers.

Each archive stays its owner’s. Sharing is something you choose, one thing at a time, and never something that happens quietly in the background.

Connected Headcases

Four steps, and you are the one who finishes it.

Connecting two Headcases is deliberate on both sides. A link on its own connects nothing.

  1. 01

    Invite

You create one invitation for one person and send it however you already talk to them.

  2. 02

    Accept

They open it in Headcase and decide for themselves. Opening the invitation shows them what it is; it does not accept it.

  3. 03

    Verify

Both phones show the same short code. You read it to each other, out loud or face to face, and only then do you confirm. If the codes differ, nothing is connected.

  4. 04

    Shared

Now you can ask each other questions, and the answers are kept. What is shared is what you each chose to share, one thing at a time.

What leaves your phone

Almost nothing, and never quietly.

Headcase works with no account and no sign-in. Your archive lives on your own device and travels in your own backup.

A question or an answer you send to a connected Headcase is encrypted on your device before it leaves it, and is delivered without being read on the way.

You can take everything out whenever you like. An archive that you cannot move is not really yours.
